new blog

Check out our new blog: Sharing our Shenanigans

I was not sure whether to continue blogging... but lots of people told me that they have enjoyed reading it. So here it is!! Hopefully I will be able to stay up-to-date. :)

So long.

Last week we moved everything out of our Charlottesville home. It was a bittersweet feeling. The past 2 years in Virginia were the BEST 2 years of my life!! We met amazing friends and welcomed Weston into the world. Even though we were far away from our own family, our friends were like our other family. We shared everything with each other. I feel homesick just being away from them now and it has been only a few weeks!! We have all went our own ways... from Florida to New York City. At least we are all on the East Coast. C'ville, we will miss you! Thanks for the memories.
Love,
Megan

Mommy's Simple Pleasures

Yesterday we went to Target to pick up a few things. Weston started getting antsy and wanted to get out of his car seat. We headed for the toy aisle and ended up playing with the baby toys for about a half hour!! I actually had fun. Weston was loving it and I was out of the house! Geez... just a few months ago I would never have thought that going to Target would be my fun day out!! That was our highlight of the day!

Now that I am a Mommy, the craziest things will make me happy (like that trip to Target). Also, this makeshift bib (a tea towel with a clothespin). BRILLIANT! Weston is the most slobbery/ "spit uppy" kid. We go through about 10 bibs a day. I bought some plastic big bibs for mealtime and a lot of the food that misses (or comes back out of) his mouth will go down the opening of the bib by his neck. So for now on maybe I will use tea towels. I had a pile to give to the Goodwill back at out C'ville home.... not anymore!

Tea towel bib.... LOVE!

Oh and look how blonde. Looks like he is getting more hair too!

Another thing that made me CRAZY HAPPY today was finding a babysitter!! Wahooooooo! I called my old neighbors in Fallston to tell them we are moving back home in August (OH yes... by the way if you have not heard we are NOT going to NYC. Chad accepted a job in Baltimore. Totally last minute, but worked out for the best! Meant to be. We are so excited and just CANNOT wait to get back into our old house). Anyway... we did a lot of catching up. I told her all about Weston and she said that her daughter is a great babysitter and would love to watch Weston! It works out just perfectly because she is RIGHT next door and can walk over. So convenient!! So happy. I was so excited that when I hung up with her I had to call people to tell them I now have a babysitter. How dorky is that?

1 more thing that made my day.... a sleeping baby. I know I shouldn't but I held him while he slept for his afternoon nap. This cannot be a routine or I will be in BIG trouble!

Summer Days...

First time in the swing!!

Weston and I had a pretty busy day yesterday (thank goodness because the day before I was so bored)! After his morning nap, we headed to the playground to play with his cousin Benjamin. They had a lot of fun playing with each other and swinging in the baby swings! It was Weston's first time in the baby swing. He absolutely LOVED it! After the park, we went to Gaga’s house for a visit. Gaga has some pretty cool toys at her house!

On Tuesday (the day that I was beyond bored) we took a walk around the farm and explored!! Weston enjoyed watching the chickens. He was not quite sure what to think of them. At first he looked scared, but after hanging out with them for a while he seemed to really like them.

Minerva and Weston. I call all the chickens here Minerva (after Minerva Loius). LOVE her books!

Playing in the grass! So much to learn about...

Crazy Week

This past week has been crazy hectic!! On Wednesday, I took pictures of my cousin's adorable son. He is just the sweetest thing!!

It was so hot last week. Weston and I tried to stay cool in the little house with A/C or at Aunt Missy's pool.

By Friday, I was frantically getting ready for Weston's Christening party- ordering cakes, getting flower arrangements together, making desserts, grocery shopping, etc. His Baptism was on Sunday. Everything went very well. Weston was such a good little boy in church. After he was baptized, we had a celebration back at home. It was so nice to celebrate with family.

Pool Time!

Today was Weston's first time swimming in a pool! I really thought that he was going to hate it! The past week or so he has cried in the bathtub and when I dipped his toes in the baby pool a few weeks ago he cried too. So I was ready for a complete meltdown when I put him in the pool. NOPE! He LOVED it!! I took my underwater camera and my mom and I snapped away. It was hilarious how he would snort and squish his nose all up to show how happy he was.

Thank you Aunt Missy for letting us hang out at your pool!! You're the best. - Love, Weston

lil' chef

Weston has been a lil' chef this morning! He is finally old enough to play with his kitchen set that Santa gave him for Christmas! This is the perfect toy now that he can sit up on his own. He cracks up laughing when the fridge, faucet, and other kitchen gadgets sing to him!

Weston is now back on his regular sleep schedule. We figured out it was all the caffeine I was drinking! Chad told me I was acting a little crazy the past couple of nights (out of control talking). ha ha ha.... I quit drinking diet Pepsi and now we are back to getting enough z's in the day. Thank goodness!

what happened?

What happened? Weston used to take wonderful morning naps. Usually about an hour to even almost three hours long. Well, the past 2 days he takes only 20-40 minute morning naps. And we all know that afternoon naps are nonexistent (just little cat naps). So needless to say, I am so tired! I am hoping tomorrow will be another story. Crossing my fingers.

Enough complaining! Today was just a beautiful day!!! We started off our morning with a nice stroll down the lane. Weston kept an eye on Sam (the family farm dog) who followed us the whole way. He even watched the calves with their mommies. So cute. Then, he played a bit on the floor (watched a little of Baby Einstein) as I washed dishes. I think we may have a crawler in the next few weeks!!!

After the unsuccessful morning nap, we decided to hang out on the blanket in the shade. Pepper and Norma stayed close by. Norma really just wanted to snag Weston's bunny rabbit. After lunch and preparing dinner for the night, I decided to try for the last time to get Weston to take a nap (the middle of the day nap lasted only 20 minutes). FINALLY he fell asleep in his stroller (only about another 20 minutes, but I'll take it)!!

The end of the day was quite entertaining for Weston! I sang (not really sang, but not sure what to call it either??) "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" to him as he laughed his head off!! It was so cute. So adorable just listening to his chuckles. As I am writing this post, Weston has woken up 2 times screaming and crying. I wonder if he is not feeling well. Usually bedtime is never a problem. When he is out, he's OUT. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better sleeping day for him.
