Professional Bull Riding!

Last night, Chad and I went to PBR at the John Paul Jones Arena here in Charlottesville! Chad has been to the PBR in Baltimore several times thanks to my cousin getting him free tickets. This was my first time! Wow! It was so neat to see these cowboys riding on bulls. For some reason I thought they stayed on the bulls a lot longer than the goal time of 8 seconds. Some guys fell of right away where if I blinked, I missed it! I was super excited because I still fit in my cowgirl boots! I even bought a pair of maternity skinny jeans from Old Navy to wear too! I subbed Monday through Thursday last week and I unfortunately picked up a nasty cold from the kiddos. Ugh. I am not feeling to well at ALL! But, I did manage to clean the house, walk the dogs, do laundry, and make these adorable onesies for my little man. He is going to be the cutest dressed lil' boy in Charlottesville!

Oh... and I am 28 weeks TODAY!

Yummy Acorns!

Yesterday, I was just expressing how much I LOVE Fall! Well, Norma LOVES Fall too! Her favorite thing about the season are the acorns! She loves to eat them! So weird. We realized her crazy addiction to acorns this time last year. We cannot go for a walk without her stopping by an oak tree and snatching a few acorns for a mid-walk snack. Maybe I should gather some and put them in the doggy treat jar?? Just kidding. I have read that they can be toxic to dogs. Well, Norma does not seem any different. She really only eats a few at a time. Most of it falls out of her mouth anyway!

Decoupaged Golden Book Frame

Over the weekend, Chad and I stopped by Lowes to pick up some materials to work on a project for the baby’s room. The room will not really have a specific theme, but I do LOVE vintage things! I came across some of my old Golden Books when I was a kiddo. Then, I thought wouldn’t it be neat to display vintage Golden Books around the room?!?!? I found some really neat Golden Book covers on the internet. After printing them out, I decoupaged them to the wooden frame that Chad made. At first, I thought that the frame turned out too plain, but once I hung it in the baby’s room it looked PERFECT! I love it!

I think it is definitely starting to look like Fall around here! The leaves are changing colors and falling off of the trees already! I am so excited for Fall!

Consignment Finds

Yesterday, I had SO much fun! I went to two different children's consignment sales here in C’ville. I had to stand in line for over 45 minutes at the first sale before it was my turn to shop. Inside was amazing and a little (well a lot) crazy! I did not buy any clothes since I have not had my shower yet. They will be having another sale in March where I can get whatever I may need. Bibs and Burpcloths

Mondays are Chad’s long day at school. He usually does not come home until around 10pm. After tutoring and dinner, I headed over to JoAnne Fabrics. They are having a sale on their snuggly flannel fabric for only $2.99 a yard. They had so many cute prints. I just could not resist! I bought 7different prints. I purchased only 1/3 of a yard of most of the fabric which cost only $1 each! I also bought another yard of the terry cloth and used my 50% off coupon. This is what I made…

The burp cloths and bibs are super easy to make (especially for a beginner sewer like me). I had a little trouble with my sewing machine (as usual), but finally figured out it was the tension. So I had to re-sew over most of the burp cloths. What a pain! It is hard to pick a favorite, but I can say that I am in LOVE with the pirate bib! So cute! The best thing is that all together I spent only $11 to make all of the burp cloths and bibs AND I have leftover fabric where I could make 2 more burp cloths and 1 more bib with each piece of fabric! So, $11 for 21 burp cloths and 14 bibs! So worth it!

Earlier this week, I also painted knobs for the baby’s closet doors. Over the summer, I went to Anthropologie to look for some neat knobs. I found blue polka dot knobs for $8 a piece. I could not see spending $16 for knobs. So I went to Lowes, found white ceramic knobs, painted polka dots, sprayed with sealer, DONE for $4!

My Camera Strap Arrived!

Yeah!! Last week, I ordered a camera strap for my camera off of Etsy. It came in the mail today!! It fits perfect. I love it! There is even a pouch to keep my lens cap safe while I am taking pictures. I would always put my cap in my pocket or down on the ground. Now I have a special home for my cap! Chad says that I should have made the strap myself. If I end up wanting to change straps for each season, I can use this one as a guide. But, I am super glad I bought it! Love it!

Oh… something that I was proud of this past weekend was my Presto candle! Chad and I had our friends over for game night and I wanted to light a few candles. So I went downstairs in the basement and found this old Presto mason jar. Doesn’t it look so neat as a candle jar?

Before meeting a few friends that I worked with last year for lunch, I stopped by my favorite antique store- Circa. I LOVE this place! Unfortunately, nothing caught my eye. Well, maybe that was for the best. I really should not be buying anything. I have no clue where we will be living next year??? Chad accepted his offer to work in New York City for an investment bank. He will be starting in late August of next summer. So now we need to find a place to live. If we did not have 2 Saint Bernards, I may think about living in the city (even though I really could not stand even being there for a few days). Since we have the dogs and getting rid of them is not an option, we will be looking outside of New York. So now I have been on real estate websites looking at houses in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. We just want to rent since we really don’t know the areas that well and we may not even be there that long (2-5 years??). My main goal is to find a house that has a big enough yard where I would not have to walk the dogs all the time! Ugh. 2 walks a day is ok, but add a baby to the mix and that could be pretty hard. Chad’s work schedule will be crazy so I would be the one doing all the walks. I hope we can find an affordable house to rent. Keep your fingers crossed!

Chad and I had a great weekend! On Friday, I subbed all day in an upper elementary classroom. Wow! Teaching children who are in 4th and 5th grade is SO different than teaching 4 and 5 year olds! There were times where I was actually sitting in peace and quiet and there were children in the room! I was able to sit! Sitting does not happen when you teach kindergarten or preschool. I really enjoyed teaching these kids. We had a great time figuring out math problems as a class and researching different mountains in the state of Washington. Anyway... after I got home on Friday, Chad and took the dogs for a quick walk and then we went to Panera for dinner (which I think I am sick of Panera).

On Saturday, Chad and I went to the Darden Cup Softball Game where each section competes. It is more of a first year event, but we did score points for Chad's section by just showing up. The weather was beautiful too! We took Norma. Everyone just loves her. She is pretty much Section E's mascot!! ;) Then, last night we enjoyed a game night with our friends at our house.

So.... my goal was to be productive on my days off. Here is what I accomplished:
Wednesday: I made the most adorable baby bibs! I bought cute Debbie Mumm blue polka dot fabric from JoAnnes and made Baby Rigdon his first bib! I appliqued the first letter of his name with brown and white polka dot fabric. In the picture, it looks like a square. I just covered it since we are trying to keep the name a secret! The other bibs I finished later on in the week. One is for a friend (of course Baby Rigdon will probably not want to wear pink). I love the bib with buttons and birds! It's so cute!! Thursday: I went shopping! Not for myself, but for family! I bought some amazing things for my sisters and mom!!! I am finished my sister-in-law's Christmas present! I am hoping to be all finished Christmas shopping and wrapping presents by Thanksgiving so I can take it all home then. I know this is wishful thinking, but if the doc is right and I do go early, I would love to go home for Christmas. We will have a baby, 2 Saint Bernards, luggage, and gifts to take all in one car. So if I can take the gifts earlier, that will be a huge help! Plus, if we do not make it home for Christmas, the gifts will be there for everyone!

26 weeks today!

My dream...

Chad and I had a great date night tonight! We went to Brixx for dinner, which is a new pizza place here in C'ville. Then, we went to Best Buy to check out the video cameras. We want to get a video camera before the baby is born so we can record this special time in our life. Well... of course I was playing with the SLR cameras while Chad was checking out the video cameras. And this is when I found my LOVE! I fell in absolute LOOOVE with this Canon EOS 7D Camera. I know, I know. I truly have a problem. I get a new camera at least every 3 years. Well, last year I got 2 new digital cameras (but one was a wedding present). Three Christmases ago I got my first SLR camera. But, this camera has 18 megapixels, the ISO goes up to 6400, and it can take 8 frames per second! OMG! I want it so bad!!! I told Chad that it would be a great "pushing present" well that is if I even have this baby naturally. But, whatever. It would be such an awesome present to give to me after the baby is born (plus the personalized necklace I sent him). Chad says there is no way, but he just got online to see if he could find it cheaper. SOOO maybe he is thinking about it?? The best thing is it takes HD video. So we would not have to get a video camera! I told him that so maybe he thought about it a little more! UGH! I want it!! I watched the Demo for it tonight and fell in even more love with it. It is way too expensive! I did promise him I would take photography classes once we move so I can learn how to use it! WISHFUL thinking. But I can always dream!
