Last time I went home to visit, I stopped by TJ Maxx and bought a black night stand on clearance for only $20! It was originally $90 at TJ Maxx, but the drawer was broken, there were a few scratches and it was missing a knob. I knew Chad would be able to fix it. So I bought it!! Chad fixed the drawer and I added some black paint to the scratches. I went to Anthropolgie a few days ago and found some really neat knobs that would go great in our bedroom! Yesterday, while I was waiting for Chad to come home, I decided to put the knobs on the night stand. (The bottom is a little crooked, so I will need to redo that one!) Love it!

Not so bummed now!

Ha ha! Well, I ended up not gong to the professional development today! Poor Chad is stuck in Detroit right now. His flight to Richmond was delayed until 1am last night and then later canceled. The next earliest flight into Richmond would be Monday at 4pm! So now, he will be flying into Charlottesville this afternoon. I have to pick him up (plus another guy he me who lives in Richmond) and drive them to the Richmond airport so Chad can pick up his car! Ugh!! Not fun! So, I emailed my boss this morning and told her I would only be able to make it to the first class this morning and would rather wait to do all three. Needless to say, I decided not to go at all!
After getting ready, I started cleaning a bit and then headed to an awesome antique/thrift store called Circa! It is amazing! I spent over an hour in the store. There were so many things I wanted! Melissa talked me out of a few things. I had to call her for advice. She is right. I don't have a permanent house right now and I should wait to buy all sorts of decor and stuff after we move. I really, REALLY wanted this chandelier. It was so hard to walk away from it! Well, I did buy 2 things though! I just could not resist!! I bought a blue checkered table cloth which I will use as a picnic blanket! I always wanted a blanket to take outside. I used to always take my quilt! I also found this cute lil' dutch girl coin bank! I love old children's toys!! Hopefully one day, my future baby's room will hold all of these cute antique toys! Come on Chad! Finish up school! ha ha

Bummed
I am super bummed. Tomorrow (Saturday) I have to work all day. Stinkin’ professional development. I hope it goes by fast. I am not used to working on the weekends!! I have a lot of things I need to get done tonight. My school stuff is piling up and taking over my craft room. I also have humongous piles of laundry EVERYWHERE from our skiing trip and this week. I also need to clean the bathrooms. Ick! Chad comes home late tonight. So I probably won’t be seeing him until after my professional development tomorrow afternoon. Our friends invited us to a Martini Shake Off tomorrow night, but I am sure Chad will be really tired. So we will see about that. If we go, I know what I will be making! Chocolatinis! Yum! I could use one right now!
Here is a pic of the pups I took the other day! After looking at poor Wonderwoman, I decided it was time to get some new toys for them. I went to Goodwill yesterday and bought 10 new ones for them. They already ruined two of them!

Please... NO MORE SNOW!
I do not want any more SNOW! I heard from a girl at work that there may be another BIG snowstorm coming at the end of next week. I SO hope that is wrong! The snow is beginning to melt around here and now there are humongous puddles everywhere!! Yesterday, the kiddos decided it would be fun to play in the puddles and mud when I was busy talking to a visitor at our school. When I called them to come in, they came running up to me with mud ALL over their faces, jackets, and well... just EVERYWHERE! I had to wash a lot of faces and find spare clothes for most of them to change into. Not fun .

100th Day!
Well, today was the 100th day of School! Wahoo!! Only about 70 some days left of school!! Can't wait! Look at their lil' faces. Wow. They were definitely off the walls today.
Here is an update on the Dr. Seuss chest we have been working on. I am supposed to be finished it by this Friday. Yeah... there is NO way! At at the end of the day today, I was putting the kids hand prints inside of the chest. I need to do 7 more hand prints and then spray the chest. I think I will be finished then! Wahoo!

Oh Summer...

Oh Summer... I cannot wait!! I know I have said this many, MANY times, but I am seriously super excited for the summer to come. I know it will stink being away from Chad (wherever he may go), but it will be my first summer not working or being super busy (like last summer with the wedding and move to Charlottesville). I am anxiously waiting for my family to decide on a week to go to the Outer Banks. I cannot wait for that! My friend from VA is getting married and they are planning a bachelorette weekend in Cancun! I hope I can make that too! As long as it doesn't interfere with our family vacation. We have 2 weddings too!! I LOVE weddings!! And I hope to make it to Ocean City atleast once this summer as well!!!
Well, enough daydreaming for me. Guess I need to get back to school work. Blah.

Snowshoe, West Virginia
What a wonderful weekend!
Chad, me, and four of our friends from Darden went to Snowshoe for the weekend to ski. We had a blast. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. The first night we were there, it was bitter cold. Everything was covered in snow. EVERYTHING. It felt like we were in a Winter Wonderland! Saturday, we went skiing and I did pretty darn good for being a beginner. Sunday, well that is another story. Saturday night we went to Ember restaurant. Mmmmmmmm delicious. I ordered lobster ravioli. It was delicious! Then, we all came home, changed right into our pjs, played a few games, got in the hot tub, built a snowman in our bathing suits, and went to bed! This morning, I attempted to ski (after having a very long night). Not a good idea. After two runs, I was done for. I had fallen fifty million times and was just frustrated. After lunch, we headed home. The stinkin curvy roads made me SO car sick. Overall, we had a fabulous weekend!
I finally just finished planning for tomorrow and brainstorming my next theme for my class. I decided we will study The Arts. Half of my children want to be a singer or an artist when they grow up! My drama center is now a music theater (I hope I will be able to stand listening to them play instruments and sing in the microphone for the next few weeks!) I think I will have an art show and invite the parents to it one night!! It is so much fun planning these lessons. I am learning about some amazing artists!!
Sore. Time for bed.

Art from the Heart
My school is having an “Art from the Heart” auction in March. I decided that my class will decoupage a chest to auction off. Dr. Seuss’ birthday is March 2nd so I thought that would be a good theme for the chest.
Here is the before:

Here is the during:

I am a little worried!! I hope it will look ok in the end! LOTS more to do!
I'll keep you posted!

ZzZzZzZz....
Oh NO! I had SOOOOO many things planned to do tonight while Chad was away. My list is never ending! I only got to check off 2 things: make my lunch for tomorrow and walk the dogs. Grrrr…. I fell asleep at 8:00! Chad just called to say goodnight. I am so mad that I fell asleep! Guess I will be setting my alarm at 5:00 tomorrow morning. Goodnight for now.

I LOVE my dogs!
After work today, Chad and I went to a few dog kennels for quick tours. This weekend, we will be going to West Virginia to ski with two other couples from Darden. I think we found a kennel that we like. I am not too excited to put them in a kennel at all! I would rather have someone come to the house and take care of them, but it is a lot of work. And they are BIG dogs. Then, after checking out the kennels, I ran home to check to see if they were up to date on their shots. Of course, I needed to get Pepper a shot before she goes to the kennel. Our vet office was so nice and let me come in last minute so Pepper could get her shot. What a night. At least we got that out of the way. Now, I need to call and reserve a place for them and fax over all of their vet info. Dogs are a lot of stinkin' work!
Right now, I am downloading pics on Walmart.com to get developed. I just love, love, LOVE these pictures I snapped on Saturday as we were playing out in the snow!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! This morning, I woke up and made Chad heart shaped pancakes, sausage, and eggs! Then, we exchanged our handmade cards. Chad did an amazing job on the card he made me! So cute! After running a few errands, I came home to make this cute heart garland I found on Made by Rae. Mine did not turn out as cute as hers. Still trying to figure out the tension on my sewing machine. I am still learning! Now I am in the process of dying stinkin’ macaroni for my kids so they can make macaroni necklaces tomorrow! Next up, dinner: Rosemary Chicken, Roasted Vegetable macaroni and heart sugar cookies for dessert! Yum!

Sweet, Sweet Valentine Treats
This year, I really got into Valentine’s Day! It may just be because I am on steriods for my cough. It is making me so loopy and energetic!! I had a GREAT time making valentine crafts with the kiddos as well as making some Valentine treats at home for me, the pups, and Chad. Here are some pics:
In the classroom:
Valentine Gifts for their parents!
All wrapped up and ready to go home!
I had a pile of scrapbook paper pieces. Thought a heart wreath would look adorable! And it does!
We had a cute Valentine's Party with the class yesterday. They had a great time!
At home:
I had a few friends over last night and thought I would make some festive sweet treats!
How could I forget the pups?! They needed a treat too!
Chad and I decided not to get each other gifts this year. We really do not have the money and there is really nothing I need/want. Plus, we are going on a skiing trip next weekend and that will be our gift to each other. So.... I gave Chad a blank card and envelope and told him to be creative! We will see....
So far, this is what I have for his card:
Happy Valentines Eve!!

Hand Made Marbled Cards
These cards are so cute! I made these with my class the other day and also made some for myself! All you need is shaving cream, liquid watercolors, white cardstock, and a pan or cookie sheet.
The first thing you need to do is spray shaving cream on your pan and use a scraper or spatula to cover your pan or sheet. Then, sprinkle a few dots of liquid watercolor (I used 2-3 colors per paper). Use a toothpick or the back of a paintbrush to make big swirls or designs through your shaving cream. Then, lay your cardstock over the shaving cream, press down gently, and scrape off shaving cream. Viola! Marbled paper! Looks so neat! Then, I cut them and pasted them to blank note cards.
This project is SUPER easy to do with kids. They all turn out looking so unique! What a great gift to give!
Decoupage Fun!
Over the long snowy weekend, I was a busy bee decoupaging! I found that fabric is so much more fun and easier to decoupage with rather than paper! Chad and I hung our initials from the barn at our wedding. I knew I wanted to do something with these letters one day when I had enough time. So this weekend, was definitely the perfect weekend to work on them! I took my country fabric scraps and decoupaged them to the letter R. I even cut out some of the roosters from the pillows I made for the family room. The R turned out great, but I LOVE the letter M the most! I used all my colored fabric with polka dots, flowers, paislies, etc. It looks so good! I made the M to go in my craft room, but it would look perfect in our guest room because of the colorful quilt I have on the twin bed.
I also decoupaged a flower pot for my grandmother’s birthday. Too bad I will not be seeing her until I come home in March. Her birthday is today. I hope she has a great day!
So here are the pictures of my letters R and M!! All I need to do is spray them. So much fun! I can’t wait to decoupage again!
