Easter

I hope that everyone had a fabulous Easter! We sure did! The Easter Bunny hopped through the little house on the farm and left Weston an Easter basket full of toys! He even got a camera just like his Mommy!


In the morning, Weston hung out at his Mumsy's house. While Weston napped, we dyed the chicken eggs from the farm (loved the way the colors turned out on the brown eggs), made some yummy parsley potatoes to go with the rest of the delicious food for lunch, and took a nice stroll around the farm. Weston loved looking at the chickens and cows!!


Later in the afternoon, we headed for my parents house. The day was just beautiful. We had a cookout and then Weston had his first Easter Egg Hunt!!! We had lots of fun! We even managed to get a picture of my parents and the boys. And everyone is looking and happy! Yay!

I made the tags on Picnik. Just upload a blank jpeg picture and add text and stickers. I made them when I was huge and pregnant waiting for Weston to make his debut. I went a little crazy and made one for almost every occasion! ;)

Look what I made Weston for Valentine’s Day!
He LOVES when I sing Old MacDonald had a Farm. So I made him these finger puppets to go along with the song.

He also LOVES looking at himself in the mirror. I found this mirror at Michaels for a dollar and decorated it with stickers and ribbon. Now I can tie it to the side of his crib and he can stare away!

He also got a cute Valentines board book. We LOVE to read together!

Halloween Treat Bag

My Goal…

So now that I am not working full-time, I have a lot more time on my hands. I am a sub at 3 private schools in Charlottesville, but on the days I do not sub I have the whole day to myself! I am super excited because I have 2 children who I tutor twice a week. So the four tutoring sessions will be very much needed for groceries and gas each week. So now that I have some days off during the week, I do NOT want to be lying on the couch eating! I may be doing this in December, but not now! The other day, I felt awesome for being so productive. I want to keep myself busy. So…. my goal is to accomplish a task/craft on the days that I do not sub. This way, I can make all of those things I have wanted to make for the baby and gifts for others.

Yesterday, I did not sub. I had an interview at a school for subbing and then met with a child that I will be tutoring. By the way he is SO cute! He is only 3 years old. So this should be fun! I still was a able to accomplish a task! Not sure why I picked this to do since the baby will not even be born in time for Halloween, but it is really cute! I was searching the Pottery Barn Kids website and came across this cute personalized Halloween Treat Bag. The one I made is a little different, but still very similar. I did not put his name on it yet. Not sure if I want to sew it or appliqué it on.

Today, I have to prepare for my two tutoring sessions and also go get fingerprinted at the police station. But here are the materials I will be using for my next project! LOVED the Debbie Mumm polka dot fabric! Can’t wait to start!

Easter

Chad and I enjoyed our first Easter together as a married couple! We stayed in the little apartment house on the farm. The dogs had a blast swimming in the pond, catching toads, and playing with Sammy boy (the farm dog). We enjoyed catching up with family and friends. Chad and the pups headed back to Virginia on Easter night. I am now staying with my parents until Thursday early morning.

Easter Egg Balance

Today was such a beautiful day outside! I taught my class the letter E. We had a day full of EGGS! We decorated eggs, read an egg hunt book, and then played Egg Balance. Look how cute this egg set is! When the plastic egg falls, it cracks in half and a bean bag yolk comes out!! So stinkin cute. My room mom last year gave them to me. They are by Play Wonder and I think she got them at Target after Easter on clearance. But, they would be super easy to make too! Love them! The kids did too!

Today was a fun-filled day full of leprechaun surprises! Yesterday, the kiddos and I wrote a letter to the leprechaun asking him to please leave us a treat. Sure enough he did! ;) We went on a little treasure hunt. A yummy surprise was waiting for us at the end! Lenny the Leprechaun was pretty sneaky!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! This morning, I woke up and made Chad heart shaped pancakes, sausage, and eggs! Then, we exchanged our handmade cards. Chad did an amazing job on the card he made me! So cute! After running a few errands, I came home to make this cute heart garland I found on Made by Rae. Mine did not turn out as cute as hers. Still trying to figure out the tension on my sewing machine. I am still learning! Now I am in the process of dying stinkin’ macaroni for my kids so they can make macaroni necklaces tomorrow! Next up, dinner: Rosemary Chicken, Roasted Vegetable macaroni and heart sugar cookies for dessert! Yum!

Didn't Quite Finish Xmas Finger Puppets

Here are the finger puppets that I started in the end of November. Then, I put them down, and forgot about them among all the Christmas chaos! So, hopefully I will finish these for my nephews for next Christmas. I would like to draw a pattern for a reindeer, an elf, and Mrs. Clause. We will see...

Gingerbread House Fun!

The other day, I decided it would be fun to make gingerbread houses with my class! I kept thinking of way to make it a little easier so it would not turn out a disaster! I did not have time to save used milk cartons, so that was out of the question. Chad told me that his mom would hot glue the graham crackers together and then they would put everything else on with icing. So I decided this would be the easiest. The night before school, I put together 11 gingerbread houses. (I did not think about transporting all these houses. That was a dilemma later the next morning!) Then, I woke up at 5 in the morning to make 11 bags of icing for them! (What a dedicated teacher I am! ha ha!) They turned out SO cute and the kids had a great time. I remember when I was little, my gingerbread house would always fall apart.. this did not happen! Yay! Thank you hot glue gun!
